The wonderful Shvil Hatapuzim
Shvil Hatapuzim is an outdoor amusement park close to Hadera, and is an ideal place for spending much of the day for children between ages 2 to 12 years. It is set in a relaxing environment between orange trees, and contains 22 activities. This includes zip lines with safety features, climbing towers, go cars, a mini-golf course, and miniature rollercoasters. In the summer there are water play zones with sprinklers and water hoses. Also, canoeing around a delightful man-made canal. Many of the attractions have been handcrafted by the builders. However, the times during which the park is open are limited, especially for religious families.

Directions and parking: Enter “Shvil Hatapuzim” into Waze and click on “Shvil HaTapuzim, Hadera.” There is a large free parking lot adjacent to the entrance.
Admission: Shvil Hatapuzim is open to the public on Saturday, holidays, and most of school vacations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In July the park is only open on Saturdays. In August it is open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The price of admission is 99 NIS for children 2 to 14 years, and 66 NIS for adults aged 14 and over. Public transport: Enter “Shvil Hatapuzim” into Moovit and click on “Shvil HaTapuzim, Hadera.” The closest bus stop is 1.7-km/21-minute walk.

Parents will find much here that is appealing. The activities are set closely together and are conveniently laid out, and it’s difficult for kids to get too lost when they wander around. There are no large rides and you can always find your child easily. If they do get lost, you will be alerted on the loud speaker. Each activity is included in the admission charge and there is no effort to extract additional money from you. Signs indicate the appropriate age for each activity. Ice cream and drinks are available for sale. There is a non-kosher cafeteria in a restored packing house. There are plenty of shaded picnic benches among the orange trees. Also, changing cubicles.

Activities include Owls’ Castle with 3 floors of climbing and swinging on ropes and ladders to the get to the nest at the very top, and is suitable for children 3 years and up. The min-golf has 9 holes. The mini-minor roller coasters are for tots to 12-year olds. Tree Houses are connected to one another by ropes, bridges and a slide and this is suitable for 3 years and up. The Riddles’ Tent has games and puzzles for the whole family. The Ta’alool has kayaks in a winding channel and is for everyone 3 years and up. It is open from April to November depending on the weather. Tarzan Swing is for 7-year olds and up. The zip line is not very long and not very high, uses safety harnessing, and is appropriate for 3 years and up.
During the winter/harvest season from November to March, visitors can pick oranges and pay per bad or make fresh orange juice. There are also creative zones for kids to paint or build crafts from scrap wood.
